July 2013 Birchbox

allHowdy everyone!  It’s time for my monthly Birchbox review.  This month’s theme is “Power Play” and it has no relevance to the items in the box.  Alright, let get to it!

bene

Benefit Triple Performing Facial Emulsion ($28.00) – A sheer, oil-free facial lotion with SPF 15 sun protection.

Total Moisture Facial Cream ($38.00) – Formulated for normal to dry skin, this concentrated facial cream provides immediate and long-term hydration for an ultra-radiant complexion.

It’s Potent! Eye Cream ($32.00) – This powerful eye cream, containing a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity and firmness, fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes

When I first opened my box I was somewhat disappointed about these samples.  I saw other people have blogged about getting fun Benefit makeup products and I was hoping to try something new.  But, now that I’ve had time to read more about these I am actually pretty excited.

Pretty!

Also, I know it’s ridiculous, but I love the way the bottles look and I kind of want to buy the full size for that reason alone.

CC

Pürminerals CC Cream ($38.00) – Using a blend of clarifying meadowsweet and brightening wheat germ extract, the silicone-free formula works to erase dark spots and even your overall skin tone. All shades come with incredible SPF 40 protection.

I already use the tinted mineral moisturizer in this brand and I really like that it givse lightweight coverage without causing my sensitive skin to break out.  I am really looking forward to trying this CC cream.  I haven’t tried a CC cream yet!

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect ($32.00) – Natural conditioners—including black currant, soy yogurt, algae, and yerba mate—combine to restore hydration to dry hair, while the unique UV/Color Polar Shield protects dyed or sun-exposed locks.

I am excited to try this out.  I have a clarifying shampoo from this brand that I got in a different Birchbox and I really like it.  I enjoy the fact that their products are sulfate free.

tintCaudalie Divine Legs ($38.00) – Caudalie’s unique blend of exotic oils—grape, hibiscus, sesame, and argan—joins forces with patented antioxidant grape-seed polyphenols to soften and firm legs.  The tinted formula imparts a subtle tan and has grown-up shimmer to mask flaws.

I have tried and liked other Caudalie products, so I am looking forward to this.  It claims that the tint will stay on until washed away with soap and water.  If that is true I will definitely be pleased.

tt

Tan Towel ($24.00 for 10 pack) – Each wipe is infused with dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a self-tanning agent that reacts with proteins and amino acids in your skin. Each 7-by-9-inch towelette is big enough to evenly coat about half your body.

I’ve used Tan Towels before and I like them.  Kind of annoying that this is only enough for a 1/2 body application, but I can usually make them go farther by neglecting my torso.

Overall I am pretty pleased with my Birchbox this month.  Although tomorrow or Wednesday I will be posting my Glam Bag review and I am LOVING that!  Still, not bad Birchbox.  Not bad at all.

In related Birchbox news, did anyone else see this Birchbox blog post on how to make an organizer out of old boxes?  It’s from a year ago but I just saw it today.  It’s kind of adorable (and free!) and I think I have to try and do it!  I’ll let you all know if that ever actually happens.  Probably it won’t.
